Wichita offers Amnesty Week for defendants
People with outstanding warrants will have an opportunity to resolve them without arrest in April.
The Wichita Municipal Court will waive warrant fees for defendants during Amnesty Week, which runs April 1-5. The defendants must voluntarily appear for Municipal Court during the week.
"This is an excellent opportunity for a resident to address their outstanding issues with the court, without fear of arrest," said Municipal Court Administrative Judge Jennifer Jones.
Defendants can still resolve warrants - and avoid the threat of arrest - before Amnesty Week at the Court Clerk's Office at Wichita City Hall, located at 455 N. Main, but warrant fees will not be waived.
Local Dillons stores will carry a publication of people with outstanding warrants starting March 15. Defendants can also be found on the city's website.
