Family of five escapes late night house fire
The Red Cross was called to assist three adults and two children after a house fire in the 400 block of North Clayton.
It happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday. Acting Fire Marshall Stu Bevis said the fire in the bedroom was knocked down quickly, and all five people escaped without injury.
Heavy damage was done to the southwest side of the house. Bevis said the source of the fire was narrowed down to an electrical short near a night stand. Damage was estimated at $35,000 to the home and its contents.
