Former President Bush resuming normal activiites following hospital stay
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) Former President George H.W. Bush appears to be back to his normal duties as a former president since his lengthy stay in a Texas hospital.
Bush had lunch Thursday with his longtime friend, former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, at his presidential library at Texas A&M University. Bush's office announced the meeting and released the first photo of a Bush since he left a Houston hospital in January.
Bush was hospitalized for two months as he underwent treatment for a bronchitis-related cough and other health issues. At age 88, he's the oldest living former president.
The photo shows a healthy-looking Bush seated in a chair with his wife, Barbara, and Mulroney, along with a mutual friend and prominent Republican supporter, Jose ``Pepe'' Fanjul. The Cuban-born sugar executive lives in Florida.
