Andover children's home plan gets financial boost
A Wichita-area advocacy group is closer to building a children's home in Andover.
The house will serve abused and neglected children from Butler, Elk and Greenwood Counties.
"It will serve up to 15 children at a time, and we are estimating about 100 children a year," Sunlight Children's Advocacy and Rights Foundation Executive Director Suzi Thien said. "Our board has determined that we will not start construction until we have all the gifts and or pledges of our $2.5 million in hand.
"When we start is actually determined by when we can raise the remaining funds."
Thien believes the house will open in the summer of 2014.
