UPDATE:  Wichita police say a 4-year-old boy was playing with a pellet rifle when he accidentally shot his 5-year-old cousin. It happened March 10 at a home in the 2300 block of East Winchester.

Lieutenant Doug Nolte said even pellet guns can be dangerous, and they should be kept well out of the reach of children.

The injured boy is in stable condition. The 27-year-old father of the 4-year-old boy was arrested for child endangerment for leaving the gun out on a table.
