A 28 year-old Manhattan, Kan. man died after he lost control of the SUV he was driving overnight.

The accident happened at 3 a.m. Wednesday on US-24 and Mile Marker 309, or three miles north of Manhattan in Riley County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said Michael Ippert was westbound on US-24. He apparently drifted off the edge of the roadway, over corrected, lost control, struck a guardrail and overturned.

Ippert was thrown out of the car. Investigators said Ippert was not buckled up at the time of the accident.

Ippert was the only person in the SUV, and no other vehicle was involved in the crash.
