Citizen's phone call leads to burglary arrests
Last week the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office reminded citizens to be on the lookout for suspicious vehicles in their neighborhoods. Now they're thanking a resident for following their advice.
A man who lives in the 11800 block of North 167th Street West called 911 at about 10:15 a.m. Monday because he was suspicious of a white Dodge Intrepid that was driving by. Minutes later, sheriff's deputies and Maize Police found that car on K-96 and stopped it.
Sheriff's Lt. David Mattingly says deputies developed probable cause to hold the two Wichita men.
"While we're working through that piece a burglary report comes out," Mattingly said. "Lo and behold, it's connected to these two people."
Deputies recovered some stolen property. They believe the two suspects could be tied to more than one other burglary.
