Travel increasing as families hit airways for spring break vacations
Travel at Mid-Continent Airport is increasing as families begin their annual "spring break" vacations.
Valerie Wise with Mid-Continent Airport says an average of 2,500 passengers fly out of the airport per day this time of the year.
Wise recommends passengers arrive 1-2 hours early for flights, particularly in the early morning hours when traffic is heavy. She says that TSA-conducted security screenings could take longer than normal and additional staff may not be available as a result of the federal budget cuts.
Wise also recommends passengers be ready for security screenings by taking off coats, shoes and handing over laptop bags. You are encouraged to check with your air carrier on rules involving carry-on luggage and have a government-issued ID (driver's license, social security card, etc) ready.
All of these tips will ensure your next trip to the airport will be a breeze.
