After guiding the Wichita State Lady Shockers to their first ever conference championship, Jody Adams was named the Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year.

When Adams took over the program in 2008-09, the Shockers were 10th in the league and had not won a game in the MVC Tournament in seven years.  In the five seasons since she took over the program, WSU has improved its place in the conference every season.

The Shox, Alex Harden, was named the MVC's Defensive Player of the Year, giving a Wichita State player the award for the second consecutive season. The Lady Shockers tip off at noon Friday against Drake in first round  MVC tournament action in Lake Charles, Missouri.
