Lineup announced for Wichita Flight Festival
The lineup was announced Friday for this year's Wichita Flight Festival, and it will include a Pearl Harbor reenactment, an Eagles tribute band, and a fast-moving jet called "Firecat."
City council member Lavonta Williams joined CityArts officials in announcing the lineup. She said the Texas-based show "TORA TORA TORA" will re-create the Pearl Harbor attack with planes, fire and explosions. Rich Perkins of Livermore, California will bring his jet "Firecat" to the air show, and the "Indy Boys" from Indiana will have a jet-powered school bus and a jet-powered Snoopy dog house.
The Twilight Air Show will feature Hotel California, which is the official Eagles tribute band.
The Flight Festival will be held September 28th and 29th at Jabara Airport. Admission is free for the daytime activities, including a Kids Zone, a food concourse and a Fly Market vendor and education area. The Twilight Air Show will have tickets at $10.00, and they're on sale at www.wichitatix.com
The Flight Festival will also have a poster contest for the first time in its history, and artists 18 and older can submit up to 3 entries each. The deadline is June 28th for entries to be submitted to CityArts, and the winner will be announced on July 15th. The winning entry will be used for lapel pins that will be sold this summer to help support the Flight Festival. The winning artist will receive a prize of $1,000, with $500 for the 2nd place artist and $250 for 3rd place. More information is available at www.WichitaArts.com and at www.WichitaFlightFestival.com
