Wichita union vows to fight recent firings at Spirit AeroSystems
Emotions are running high among Wichita's Spirit AeroSystems union employees who were unexpectedly fired from their jobs.
"We had 37 people the other day that said goodbye to their spouses or significant other and went to work and came home early that day - most of them unknowingly without a job," said Bob Brewer, Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace midwest director. "I have nothing to say to (Spirit CEO) Mr. (Jeff) Turner. It's a shame that he's made a decision to go out like this."
“A company the size of Spirit has people entering and exiting the company regularly - those are personnel matters that we do not discuss publicly,” Spirit said in response.
“Spirit does not discuss personnel matters publicly, and will not stoop to the level of responding to personal attacks made in SPEEA’s memo.
