Vandals cause $1 million in damage to Derby Walmart construction site
The Derby Police Department is looking for suspects that damaged a Walmart Neighborhood Market store that was under construction.
On its Facebook page, Derby police said damage is estimated at $1 million to the future store near 87th Street South and Rock Road.
Police said it is not known how many suspects there are. The vandals broke in, then used several scissor lifts to ram freezer and cooler units in the building. More than 45 cooler and freezer doors were broken. It also damaged plumbing and electrical infrastructure.
The crime happened between 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 15 and 7 a.m. Saturday, March 16.
