Claflin man on the mend at Wichita hospital
A man was looking for a pen and accidentally shot himself in the leg.
It happened about 2:42 Wednesday afternoon in the 2000 block of SE 50th Street in Kingman County. The incident was investigated by the Kingman County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators said 53 year-old James Kraft of Claflin was looking for a pen when he moved a .45 caliber from a console when it went off. The bullet struck Kraft in the left leg.
Police said Kraft did have business in the area. He was awake and talking when transported to the hospital. He's in fair condition at Via Christi on St. Francis in Wichita.
