The Wichita State Shockers took their game against the University of Kentucky all the way down to final second Sunday afternoon, but came up short against Kentucky 65-62.
The Shockers had the game within one point with under 30 seconds left in the game, but turned the ball over and were forced to foul. Kentucky then made two free throws to extend their lead to three.
The Shockers would have one last chance to shoot a three and tie the game, but again came up short when Landry Shamet's last second attempt was blocked.
The Kentucky Wildcats will move on to the Sweet 16.
Wichita State can come away proud of what they accomplished this year. They finished with 31 wins, a trip to the NCAA National Tournament for the sixth straight year, and they add another tournament win for the fifth straight year.
And looking ahead to next year, the Shockers will keep this team in tact, with the exception of just two seniors departing - Zach Bush and John Robert Simon.
