While much attention has been given to the major budget cuts faced by Kansas' public schools due to state budget shortfalls, cuts in funding to the state's court system has been somewhat overlooked. If drastic enough, the cuts could force the closure of some county courthouses. In this week's At Issue, KFDI's Dan Dillon visits with Kansas Supreme Court Chief Justice Lawton Nuss regarding potential cuts to the Kansas judicial system and about the efforts of a 25-member commission charged with suggesting improvements to the court system. The program concludes with comments delivered in Wichita earlier in the week by Gov. Sam Brownback about his Rural Opportunity Zones imitative.
