Social activist Mary Ware has been selected to serve out the remainder of Lynn Rogers term in the Kansas Senate.
Democrat committee members gathered Saturday where they elected Ware to serve in the Kansas Senate for the 25th District. The 25th District serves portions of west, southwest, central and south-central Wichita.
The seat is currently held by Lynn Rogers. Rogers was elected Lt. Governor with running mate and Governor-elect Laura Kelly.
He leaves the seat in January. Ware will serve at least until the next election in 2020.
