Residents in southeast Wichita may see increased activity this week around McConnell Air Force Base.
The 22nd Air Refueling Wing, in conjunction with the 931st Air Refueling Wing and the 184th Intelligence Wing will be conducting a Force Protection Condition Exercise. The exercise is designed to help McConnell personnel respond to any internal or external threat to the base.
The exercise will test lockdown and crisis response procedures in response to situations like terrorism or active shooter incidents. The surrounding area around McConnell may hear abnormal alarms, sirens, and other noises coming from the base, as well as increased security operations throughout the week.
The exercise will take place from now, through Friday.
