The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says it’s working with Sherman County sheriff’s deputies on a homicide that was reported in Goodland.
Around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, the Sherman County sheriff’s office received a 911 call reporting that a man had been shot. Deputies were sent to a home where 21-year-old Zachary Chavez of Tribune was found with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the Goodland Regional Medical Center.
A person of interest was identified and is now in custody. No other details have been released.
