A provost at Wichita State University will serve as the acting president while current president Richard Bardo recovers from surgery.
Dr. Bardo has been hospitalized for a chronic lung condition and he underwent surgeries in November and December. He was unable to attend fall commencement ceremonies.
Provost Richard Muma will serve as acting president at the request of Dr. Bardo.
Kansas board of regents chairman Dennis Mullin issued a statement wishing Dr. Bardo well in his recovery.
