The man accused of kicking a one-year-old boy and yelling racial slurs at an east Wichita supermarket has been arrested again.  31-year-old Trace Riff was booked into jail early Thursday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.  He was being held on a bond of $50,000.

Police officer Charley Davidson said in a press release that officers were called to the 1000 block of North Market around 2:45 a.m. Thursday after someone reported the door being forced open on a neighboring apartment.  Officers found a man identified as Riff inside the vacant apartment and took him into custody.   He was booked for possession of methamphetamine.

Riff was arrested for a December 23rd incident at a Dillons store at Douglas and Hillside.  He’s accused of kicking a one-year-old black boy and yelling obscenities and racial slurs, and he was booked for battery and resisting arrest, then he was later released.     Wichita police have turned over information on the case to the FBI, and the Sedgwick County district attorney’s office is also investigating.

The child was not seriously hurt in the incident.
