A new winter storm will bring snow to northern and central areas of Kansas and strong winds will create near whiteout conditions in northwestern parts of the state.

A blizzard warning in in effect in far northwest Kansas, where one to three inches of snow are expected by mid-afternoon Tuesday.   A trace to an inch of snow will be possible from west central Kansas into the central part of the state, and flurries are possible in a band from southwest Kansas into the northeastern corner of the state.  A winter weather advisory is in effect for Barton, Rice, McPherson, Saline, Marion and Chase counties.

The Wichita area and south central Kansas could get flurries Tuesday afternoon but no accumulation is expected.  Temperatures will fall to 29 at mid-afternoon before dropping to a low of 18 Tuesday night.  Gusty winds will create single-digit wind chills across the area.
