Butler County officials say a 38-year-old man was killed Wednesday morning when he was struck and then run over by a flatbed trailer that was being pulled by a truck.
The accident happened at 330 West Rosewood Street in Rose Hill around 8:30 a.m. Deputies said Stephen Farmer, a Sedgwick County resident, was standing near the trailer when the truck was turning around in a parking lot. Farmer was hit by the trailer and fell to the ground, then he was run over by the right rear tires of the trailer, which was carrying a skid steer. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck was a 32-year-old Sedgwick County man. Deputies determined that the death was an accident and criminal charges are not being pursued at this time.
