City accepting nominations for ‘Excellence in Public Service Award’

Starting today, you can nominate public service employees in Wichita for the annual Excellence in Public Service Award. Employees of the City of Wichita, Sedgwick County or Wichita Public Schools are eligible to be nominated through February 22nd.

The City of Wichita stated that you can nominate someone who shows “The highest standard of service” by going to the City Manager’s Office, the County Manager’s Office, the Wichita Public Schools Strategic Communications Office, or online. To nominate someone online, click here.

The city says the Excellence in Public Service Award honors public employees who go beyond the call of duty and demonstrate the following:

  • Exemplary performance that has contributed to the public interest;
  • Innovative problem-solving skills that have improved service delivery;
  • Adherence to high ethical standards in carrying out job responsibilities; and
  • A record of community involvement through participation in civic organizations.

A committee made of nine public and private sector representatives will select the honorees. The winner will get $2,500 and be honored at a reception. The DeVore Foundation and KSN sponsor the award.
