Freezing drizzle leads to crashes, delays across Wichita

Freezing drizzle caused delays in Wichita Tuesday morning.

Multiple crashes on Interstate 135, I-235 and Kellogg beginning at around 6 a.m. Later in the morning, law enforcement encouraged drivers to avoid elevated highways in the city altogether.

Just before 8:30 a.m., two vehicles rolled over near K-254 and I-235 in separate crashes. Serious injuries were reported in at least one of those two crashes.

Wichita Public Schools told parents that buses might run late since school buses were going to change routes to stay away from elevated roads.

Temperatures are forecast to remain below freezing until later Tuesday. Drivers are encouraged to use caution and expect slick roads through the morning.

The Emergency Accident Reporting Plan is in effect Tuesday morning. If you are involved in a crash where nobody is hurt, no alcohol or drugs are involved, and both vehicles can be driven safely, you can report the crash online or with a form instead of calling 911. You can pick up a form at Quik Trip or a Wichita Police Department substation, or you can report online by clicking here.
