After two records employees and a WPD detective were recently diagnosed with cancer, the Wichita Police Department is helping with a couple events to raise money.

Shave-A-Cop, Help the Valley, is happening today, February 22. For a $10 donation, you can take a chunk of hair off a Wichita officer’s head. For $100, you get to remove all of their hair. This is happening from 6-9 p.m., at LaVela, at 6147 E. 13th North. Proceeds go to Victory in the Valley, a local non-profit that helps cancer patients and their families across Kansas.

On March 3, a benefit concert for Detective Matt Young is being hosted by the Honore Adversis Foundation, WPD Bomb Squad, and Sex Crimes Unit. This concert is happening at 1330 E. Douglas, from 5-10 p.m. A $10 donation gets you an evening of entertainment and food made by the Wagonmasters. Local band, Crossfire, will be performing.
