A winter storm watch has been issued for south central and southeastern areas of Kansas from Saturday evening into Sunday morning as a winter storm moves into the state.   The watch includes Sedgwick, Kingman, Harper, Sumner, Butler and Cowley counties.

A winter storm warning is in effect from 8 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday for much of central Kansas, including Reno, Harvey, McPherson, Chase, Marion, Barton and Saline counties.

A winter storm is expected to bring heavy snow with accumulations of 2 to 4 inches possible across central, southern and southeastern Kansas.  Winds could gust as high as 35 miles an hour, creating areas of blowing and drifting snow.   Temperatures will be colder on Sunday with dangerously cold wind chills around -15.
