Former Sedgwick County commissioner arrested after disturbance

A former Sedgwick County commissioner and former Wichita city council member was arrested late Monday night after a disturbance in Wichita’s Old Town district.

Jim Skelton was arrested at a convenience store in the 1000 block of East Douglas on misdemeanor charges of assaulting a law enforcement officer and interference with a law enforcement officer.  He was booked into the Sedgwick County jail but later released on bond.

Skelton served on the Wichita city council from 2005 to 2010 and then served in the fifth district on the Sedgwick County Commission from 2011 to 2015.  He ran unsuccessfully for the fifth district seat again in the 2018 election.
