MONDAY MORNING UPDATE
By Jake Bowles
“Unbelievably,” a driver survived. That’s what state trooper Chad Crittenden said in a now-deleted tweet about a crash in central Wichita Sunday.
Crittenden said a car was “torn in half” after it hit a bridge pillar at the ramp from southbound I-135 to eastbound Kellogg. The 51-year-old driver Timothy Lee McKown was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, and the KHP crash log stated he was not wearing a seat belt.
Trooper Chad took down the tweet, after someone who said they were a family member said it was “too soon” to post photos of the damaged car, with the driver still in surgery. C said it was not his intention to upset anyone.
