Keeping It 100 about 300: Week #3

Let week #3 of the “LAS Slimdown” begin.  This journey is all about honesty and TBH, I full expected to gain weight this week.  Last weeks update, after being on “the plan” for a week, I had lost 3 pounds.  I talked about the great suggestions a lot of you gave me.  I talked about putting some of those into practice like smaller portions and slowing down when I eat and getting to the gym.

Well, I did all that, but this past week was just one of those typical busy, easier to make excuses, eat more things a guy who is trying to lose weight shouldn’t, and still only get to the gym a couple times. A cheeseburger, some french fries and a Shamrock Shake later, I figured  I would have gained those 3 pounds back and be right back where I started.

Well, the weigh in was yesterday and to my surprise another 3 pounds gone.  After 2 weeks, down 6 pounds to 294.  I wanted to lose 15-20 pounds before April 3rd, I’m almost half way there with a little over 3 weeks to go. This recent weigh in is just the motivation I need.  I was uber conscious of the foods I shouldn’t have been eating to the the point that I hadn’t noticed I was still moving more, still eating slower and smaller portions and still losing weight.

Could it be true.  Could weight loss simply have a lot to do with the amount of calories you’re putting in your body.  Now I realize a 2000 calorie diet made up of Twinkies, french fries and ice cream is still the same number of calories as a 2000 calorie diet of nuts, fruits, vegetables, protein and good carbs, but one is obviously much better for you than the other.

So, what’s the lesson here?  If you’re going to hold yourself accountable for all the bad things you eat and you falling short of your exercise goals, you also have to remember to celebrate all those things you’re doing right and you’ll realize they the good outweighs the bad as you work on weighing less.

Keep up the great work.
