The Kansas Highway Patrol is offering a cadet law program this summer for high school students. Kids interested in law enforcement can participate from June 2-7 if they are a high school junior with a C+ average. Patrol Superintendent, Colonel Mark Bruce, says students will get to experience some training law enforcement officers receive.
What cadet law participants will experience this summer:
- classroom instruction
- the real-world activities of a Kansas state trooper
- students will go to the firing range
- students will practice pursuit driving at the driving range
- ride with the Patrol’s pilots in agency aircraft
- see presentations from the Patrol’s canine handlers
- physical training
- attention to detail
The American Legion and American Legion Auxillary are sponsoring the event for the kids.
The application deadline is March 31st. Students can learn more here.
