Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Vietnam veteran Bill McCann. Back in 2014 Bill was having lunch with a veteran in the cafeteria at the VA and Bill gave him a $50 gift card to a supermarket so the man could have some food in his house. That man grabbed Bill’s hand and started crying and that’s when the program “Vittles for Vets” was born. Bill said people, veterans and children should not go hungry here in America, the greatest and richest country in the world. When Bill’s not busy volunteering he spends time doing puzzles with his 95-year old father, a World War II veteran. Bill’s actions have earned him the 2019 Red Cross Military Hero Award. Thank you Bill for your service and congratulations.
