Kansans who are behind on their utility payments could have service shut off soon.
The cold weather rule that helps keep gas and electricity on through the winter ends March 31. If payment arrangement are not made with utility companies before then, service may be disconnected. Since the rule ends over the weekend, payment plans should be set up by Friday, March 29.
In Kansas, the cold weather rule runs from November to April. This allows people to make payment plans with their gas and electric providers in order to keep heat available through the winter months.
