Man pleads not guilty in fatal Wichita stabbing

A man accused in the 2017 stabbing death of a Wichita doctor has pleaded not guilty, and his trial has been scheduled for May.

23-year-old Umar Dutt appeared in Sedgwick County district court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to a first degree murder charge.  His trial has been scheduled for May 28th.

Dutt is charged in the September, 2017 murder of Dr. Achutha Reddy, who was found dead behind his office near Central and Edgemoor.   Prosecutors said Dr. Reddy had been stabbed more than 150 times.   Dutt was arrested a short time later near 13th and Rock Road.
