A company wants to build a wind farm in southeast Reno County, and the county is holding a public hearing on that proposal Thursday. NextEra is proposing a new wind farm west of Andale.
The group Reno County Citizens for Quality of Life argues the proposal has problems. Member Matt Amos said he had concerns about how the county was going about the approval process for the wind farm, specifically with the Conditional Use Permit.
“There’s a lot of misinformation out there,” Reno County Commission Chairman Bob Bush stated at Tuesday’s county commission meeting. “Anyone who wants to attend the meeting is welcome.” The county will take public comments at the meeting after a presentation from NextEra and county planners.
Supporters or concerned neighbors are invited to the public hearing at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 4. The meeting will be held at the Atrium Hotel at 1400 N Lorraine in Hutchinson.
