Reno County planners have extended a meeting on a proposed wind farm near Pretty Prairie to next week after a lengthy meeting Thursday.
Dozens of people went to the eight-hour public meeting in Hutchinson that ended with no decision made. Supporters and opponents of the proposed wind farm voiced their opinions after presentations from county planners and the company behind the proposal, NextEra.
NextEra says the wind farm would add jobs and bring millions of dollars into the community. Opponents have raised questions about how the Reno County Planning Commission would allow the land to be used without industrial zoning.
The planning commission will meet again next Tuesday, April 9, and decide whether to grant NextEra a conditional use permit.
