You can soon apply for a scholarship from Westar — applications open on April. Westar has announced a $250,000 scholarship program serving students in three northeast Wichita zip codes and who are seeking post-secondary degrees and certifications.

Westar is also establishing a $1 million fund at the Wichita Community Foundation which will serve residents in the same northeast Wichita zip codes. Grants from this fund will focus on community and environment enhancement as well as youth enrichment.

The Evergy Community Investment Fund

The Fund criteria were developed by the Evergy Community Investment Advisory Board, which comprises 14 people who live, work and/or serve in Wichita’s District 1. To apply for funding, nonprofits must be based in, or have a chapter or office, in Sedgwick County, and serve residents of zip codes 67208, 67214 and 67219. The grants will range from $5,000 to $100,000.
The Fund will extend through the next five years. Applications will open April 15, 2019, and close June 17 at noon. To apply, go to wichitacf.org.

The Evergy Scholarship Fund

The scholarship program, administered by WCF, will award 10 $1,000 scholarships annually to students who live in zip codes 67208, 67214 and 67219. These awards can be applied to tuition, books or fees for post-secondary education, including technical education and two- or four-year colleges or universities throughout the U.S. Consideration for the scholarship will be given to students exhibiting leadership, community involvement, work experience, and awards, as well as financial need and academic performance.

Applications will open April 15, 2019, and are due May 15 at noon. To apply, go to wichitacf.org.
