One person and at least a dozen cattle are dead after a head-on crash in Butler County overnight.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office said a semi truck hauling around 50 cattle and a passenger vehicle crashed head-on east of Potwin on Kansas Highway 196. Investigators said they don’t know yet which vehicle crossed the center line in the crash just before midnight Monday night.
The driver of the passenger vehicle died in the crash, and the semi driver was not seriously hurt. K-196 was closed near Potwin through the night, and deputies asked drivers to be on the lookout for cattle.
