Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors veteran Joe Herbst. Joe LOVES hockey, he played for 25 years before losing his lower leg in 2015. At point, he figured his life on the ice was over and it was time to hang up the skates. That was, until Eric Lindholm who fabricates and builds prosthetic devices for veterans, decided to work on a special prosthetic for Joe. He built a special adaptive prosthetic foot that attaches to a skate blade and Joe is now back on the ice playing forward for the Blackhawk Warriors, a hockey team made up entirely of veterans.
