‘Vigil for Bucky’ arranged for next Wednesday

A vigil is already planned for the student at Southeast High who took their own life on campus Friday.

GLSEN Kansas has listed an event for Wednesday night at College Hill United Methodist Church. The event post on Facebook says, “This student-led vigil, hosted by friends of Bucky, will honor him with stories, memories, and calls for action.”

KFDI News has spoken with Liz Hamor, who runs the Kansas Chapter of GLSEN. Hamor says students who were friends with the young man tragically lost on Friday reached out to her organization immediately. She says they wanted to plan a vigil to honor their friend and they also want to provide a “call to action.”

Hamor urges any students struggling with Friday’s tragic news to reach out for help. They can call The Trevor Project 24/7 at 866-488-7386.

Students can also call Comcare Crisis at 660-7500.
