Kansas Board of Education to Learn About Vaping

In light of the increase in high school students vaping, the Kansas State Board of Education has asked for a presentation on the student health concerns, statistics, and an overview of trends and products that have been developed. The 2017 Kansas Youth Risk Factors Survey shows that one in three Kansas high school students have tried e-cigarettes and one in ten were currently users. The youth prevention manager for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment will discuss the risks associated with vaping and share the Kansas Vape-Free Schools Toolkit developed by KDHE. David Stubblefield, who is the executive director of school administration for Blue Valley Unified School District 229, will discuss the number of students who are vaping and how Blue Valley is working to address the issue.
