The Stamp Out Hunger food drive is Saturday, May 11.

If you have any non-perishable food you’d like to donate, just leave it in your mailbox or in a bag right next to your mailbox before your letter carrier gets there today. Then, the US Postal Service will pick up the food and deliver it to local community churches, food banks and food pantries.

In 2017, people in Wichita donated more than 117-thousand pounds of food for local families in need.

The USPS stated last year’s drive collected 71.6 million pounds of food from communities in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam and the US Virgin Islands.

Sponsors, volunteer groups, and the USPS work with the National Association of Letter Carriers each year for the country’s largest single-day food drive.
