A man has plead guilty in the death of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son.
The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office says Lucas Diel was in court Monday for a motions hearing where he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Anthony Bunn. The boy was found unresponsive at a home in Riverside on May 4, 2018.
The boy was transported to the hospital where he later died. Police soon learned his cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Police later arrested the boy’s mother, Elizabeth Woolheater, and her boyfriend Lucas Diel. They were charged with first-degree murder.
Per the plea agreement, 26-year-old Diel will spend over 48 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for June 25.
A motions hearing for Elizabeth Woolheater is scheduled for May 20.
