Fight over loud music led to fatal stabbing Sunday in southeast Wichita

A fight over loud music led to a fatal stabbing early Sunday morning near Harry and Oliver.

When Wichita Police arrived in the 1800 block of South Glenndale, shortly before 2 a.m., they found 45-year-old Joseph Heiman inside of his apartment with multiple stab wounds.  He was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries around 7:30 a.m.

Police say Heiman had been in an ongoing dispute with his neighbor over Heiman playing loud music in his apartment.  The dispute had been going on for several weeks according to Police Captain Brent Allred.

The neighbor then entered Heiman’s apartment and attacked him.  He then called 911 to report what he had done.

He was taken into custody at the scene and booked into jail for first-degree murder.  KFDI News is withholding the man’s name until he is formally charged with a crime.
