Woman suffers minor injuries in drug-related shooting Tuesday afternoon

A 20-year-old woman suffered minor injuries in a shooting Tuesday afternoon near Lincoln and Oliver.

It happened around 2 p.m. in the 800 block of South Terrace.  Wichita Police were called to the report of a shooting in the area and found a home that had been hit by gunfire.

Inside, a 20-year-old woman and 18-year-old man reported the house had been shot at, but no one hurt.  Police soon determined that the woman had been hit by a bullet in the abdomen.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment.  Police say the injury turned out to be minor and she was treated and released that day.

A 23-year-old man was identified as the suspect and he has been arrested and booked into jail on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling.  Police Public Information Officer Kevin Wheeler says the shooting is drug related, but couldn’t elaborate further due to the ongoing investigation.

Wheeler noted that the two victims in the case are not cooperating in the investigation.
