Wichita mayor Jeff Longwell has officially started his campaign for a second term in office.  He told a group of supporters at a Thursday kickoff event that he wants to continue to work with community leaders to build a better Wichita.

Longwell said candidates for public office were focused on job creation four years ago, and jobs have been created in Wichita with growth by Spirit, Cargill, and Textron.   He said the focus now is finding skilled workers to fill those jobs.

Longwell also said if Wichita is going to grow and prosper and compete, “we have to bolster our regional economy and we need our communities around us to be strong.”

Three other candidates have filed for the mayor’s office in the 2019 primary.
