Star Spangled Salute: A WWII Veteran Meets The Veteran Who Saved His Life

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors World War II veterans Clarence Smoyer and Earl Bridygham.  95-year old Clarence was being honored in his home town for his heroic efforts.  Clarence, a tank gunner, was credit for destroying a German tank in the Battle of Cologne.  This was important because the infantry division that was marching toward that position had no idea the tank was there.  Earl, was in that infantry division and the other day while Clarence was being honored in a special ceremony, Earl showed up to meet the man who saved his life. In addition to being honored, his hometown high school plans to present him with an honorary diploma, something Clarence never received before going off to war. Thank you Clarence and Earl for your service.
