Star Spangled Salute: Disabled Veteran Sets A World Record

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors veteran Martin Tye.  In 2009 a suicide bomber detonated behind Martin’s Humvee leaving Martin with no feeling from the knees down and significant damage to his shoulder and lungs.  10 years later there have been 20 surgeries on just one knee, PTSD and metal has been inserted into his legs and shoulders.  Martin struggled until he found strongman competitions, where he regained his confidence.  Recently, Martin set a Guinness Book of World Records record for a seated dead lift, hoisting 1,113 pounds, 5 ounces off the ground. Congratulations Martin and thank you for your service.
