Tanganyika Wildlife Park adds 3 African Lions

Three African Lions arrive this Saturday at Tanganyika Wildlife Park.

The female and 2 male lions are being transported from a preserve in South Africa and are 2 to 3 years old.  However, it will be some time before the lions will be on public display.

“We are thrilled to once again have lions at Tanganyika. The arrival of our lions introduces new outstanding genetics to the managed lion population in the US,” stated Jim Fouts, Director and founder of Tanganyika Wildlife Park.

The park previous hosted two African lions and the entire big cat collection from Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot, North Dakota, after flooding in 2010 forced the evacuation of the zoo there.  With the addition of the 3 lions this Saturday, Tanganyika says the will have almost every rare big cat species represented at the park.

Guests can get a sneak preview of the lions during Tanganyika’s annual Twilight Tour fundraiser.  For more details, click here.
