Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors disabled veteran Melissa Kiser. Melissa served almost a decade in the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division and then worked for the VA for 5 years following her service. She said the VA was all she knew but she knew she needed something more. With her PTSD and reactive airway disease, committing to an employer was hard and working for herself seemed the best choice, that’s when she discovered henna. She says henna helps her find her center, its calming, therapeutic, healing and spiritual. Melissa has been drawing henna art for the past 5 years at everything from farmers markets to bridal parties and is finally opening a store so she can continue to spread her love of henna.
