Spirit Aerosystems looking at changes in response to Boeing Max issues

Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita is looking at steps to take in response to a change in production rates for the troubled Boeing 737 Max aircraft.

There have been reports that Spirit is looking to move some salaried employees to a four-day work week, but nothing has been confirmed.  The company says it’s considering actions to minimize disruptions to employees, suppliers and the company.   No formal announcements have been made but the company said it plans to give information to employees soon.

Two of the 737 Max planes have crashed in the past year in Ethiopia and Indonesia, killing 346 people.   The planes have been grounded as Boeing works on a flight control software system that has been implicated as the cause of the crashes.  A U.S. House subcommittee plans a second hearing on the safety of the Max jets on June 19th in Washington.
